Is The Downturn The Best Time For Service Providers To Advertise?
Is the oil and gas downturn the best time for service providers to advertise?
Personally, I think if you look at the historics of different industry downturns and who came out on top, it typically was/is the companies who marketed heavily, kept boots on the grounds within their sales force, and generally looked alive during a market down tick. Today at a marketing event, I was reminded about Walmart pulling all their advertising in the late 70’s during the recession and how much business they lost to a new up & coming upstart at the time, Target. I believe in any industry, it is the same, but oil and gas is more geo targeted per say.
