Preventing these undesirable blowouts includes watching for warning signs, knowing how to stop blowouts and being aware of more extreme methods to control existing blowouts when other options have been exhausted.
Recognizing the early warning signs of drilling blowouts is essential. Each of them deserve your full attention from obtaining your equipment to providing for the safe use thereof. If there is a change in the pump pressure or or surface fluid rate, that may be an indication that a drilling blowout is imminent. Likewise, an increase or decrease in the drilling rate; a decrease in the in drillpipe weight; or the appearance of water, oil or gas in the surface mud are all danger signs.
